#9 Pack Falls to #4 Auburn in Quarterfinals at ITA National Team Indoors
2/7/2026 9:28:00 PM | Women's Tennis
EVANSTON, Ill. - The No. 9 and fifth-seeded NC State women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 4 and top-seeded Auburn in the quarterfinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, sending the Wolfpack into the consolation bracket. No. 18 Lavinia Tanasie earned NC State's lone point of the dual with a straight-set singles victory to prevent the sweep.
NC State opened the match strong in doubles, as the nation's No. 2-ranked tandem of Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe cruised to a dominant 6-0 win on court one. Auburn responded, however, with wins on courts two and three to claim the doubles point.
In singles play, the Tigers gained separation early, securing straight-set victories on courts six and one to build a 3-0 lead and move within one point of clinching the match.
Tanasie answered for the Wolfpack on court five, showing resilience after NC State's dramatic comeback win over No. 8 Oklahoma State in the opening round. The freshman defeated Eva Ionescu, 6-3, 6-3, to put NC State on the board.
Auburn ultimately sealed the victory on court four with a straight-set win, advancing to the semifinal round with a 4-1 decision.
