BATON ROUGE, La. – NC State softball (1-2) held a 5-2 lead headed into the bottom of the seventh inning, but a two-out homer allowed the No. 16/13 LSU Tigers (3-0) to walk it off, 7-5.

The Wolfpack returns to Tiger Park on Saturday for its final two games of the Tiger Classic. NC State will face Illinois at 11am before facing Nevada at 1:30pm.
How it Went Down
- The Pack was hot in the batter's box from the first pitch. Senior and former LSU Tiger Maia Townsend led off with a single to third and freshman Carly Short followed it with a base hit of her own. Sophomore Kendall Simmers worked a full count before seeing ball four to head to first and load the bases for senior Hannah Church.
- Church singled up the middle to bring home Townsend and Short would later touch the plate after the LSU shortstop was called for obstruction. The hit and two RBIs marked the senior's 101st of her career in both categories. The Pack ended the opening frame on top, 2-0.
- In the second, freshman catcher Carmen Montes de singled to right field to record her first collegiate.
- Redshirt-junior Wynne Gore earned the nod in the circle and escaped a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the second after Townsend caught a flyout at the outfield fence to keep her former team off the board.
- The top of the third saw Simmers lead off with a full-count walk. With one out, freshman Morgen Talley hit an infield single before senior MaKayla Marbury doubled to left center to bring home Simmers. The Tigers made a pitching change after Marbury's double, bringing in Tatum Clopton.
- With the Pack in front, 4-0, freshman Lily Livingston picked up her first hit and RBI with a single to left that brought home Talley. Montes de Oca would follow it up with a sacrifice fly to bring home Marbury to increase the Pack's lead to five.
- The Tigers scored one in the bottom of the third after Kylee Edwards got a ball in the gap in the outfield to bring home Tori Edwards. Despite their efforts to minimize the Pack's lead more, the Wolfpack defense was on lock and picked up the final two outs of the frame.
- LSU added a second run to the board in the bottom of the fifth after a solo homer from Ally Hutchins.
- Through six innings of work, Gore picked up four strikeouts.
- Talley headed to the circle in relief with no outs and two on in the bottom of the seventh. The Tiger walked it off after two wild pitches and a two-run homer allowed five to score.
