
No. 12 Seed Wolfpack Advance to Round Two of NCAA Tournament With 4-0 Sweep Over Charleston Southern

RALEIGH, NC - Defending their perfect 12-0 home record, the No. 12 seeded NC State Wolfpack stormed into the first round of the NCAA Tournament with a dominant 4-0 win over Charleston Southern on Friday evening at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
Hosting the NCAA first and second rounds for the ninth consecutive season, the Wolfpack (18-6) entered the weekend with the home court advantage wasting no time asserting control over the Buccaneers.
NC State set the tone early in doubles play. At the No. 2 position duo of Anna Zyryanova and Jasmine Conway powered to a 6-1 win, marking their eighth victory of the season together. At No. 3 doubles, Kristina Paskauskas and Mia Slama followed up with a confident 6-3 win over Charleston Southern's Emmie Moore and Brenda Yoris, securing the doubles point for the Pack.
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles, the Wolfpack aimed for their seventh sweep of the season and they delivered just that.
No. 110 Gabriella Broadfoot opened singles play with authority, breezing past Noa Boyd 6-1, 6-2 to give NC State its first singles point of the evening. On court five, No. 110 Mia Slama added to the tally, clinching her 14th win of the season with a 6-3, 6-2 result over Yoris, pushing the lead to 3-0.
On court two, No. 76 Maddy Zampardo showed resilience after dropping her second set to Charleston Southern's Marina Skegro. Zampardo responded with a commanding 6-2 win in the third to clinch the match for NC State and seal its place in the round of 32.
With the team victory secured, the remaining matches were left unfinished.
At No. 1 singles, junior No. 55 Anna Zyryanova won her first set 6-3 against Emmie Moore before dropping the second 4-6. She was leading 3-1 in the third set when the match was called. On court four, Kristina Paskauskas started strong with a 6-0 first set over Amilia Jusbegovic but trailed 3-6 in the second when her match was also halted. Rounding out the lineup on court six, No. 88 Gabia Paskauskas battled through a tight first set, winning it in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-6) against Kassandra Di Staulo. She led 4-3 in the second set before her match was abandoned.
Looking Ahead: Round Two vs. UCF
The Wolfpack will face No. 21 UCF in the second round of the NCAA Tournament tomorrow at 5:00 PM, at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
UCF advanced after a 4-1 victory over Furman in their opening match. The Knights, who trail 1-3 in the all-time series against NC State, are led by ITA-ranked singles players No. 108 Sophia Biolay and No. 113 Olivia Lincer. In doubles, they feature the No. 49 duo of Hannah Rylatt and Olivia Lincer.
