CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Anna Zyryanova clinched a spot in the 2025 NCAA Singles Championship as the NC State women's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships, hosted by North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Zyryanova's berth in the national tournament came after a win in the third-place singles match, as one of the two finalists had already secured a spot in the NCAA field. The Pack's weekend was highlighted by Zyryanova's semifinal run in singles and quarterfinal appearances by No. 74 Gabriella Broadfoot and No. 88 Lavinia Tanasie.
Jasmine Conway kicked off play for the Wolfpack as the fourth seed in the qualifying singles round, defeating Keira Stewart of Western Carolina in the round of 64. She then advanced to the qualifying round of 32, where she took down Lauren Thompson of UNCG to earn a spot in the main draw.
NC State opened the main singles draw with a strong showing as all six players advanced out of the round of 64. In the next round, No. 74 Broadfoot, No. 38 Zyryanova, No. 88 Tanasie, and No. 72 Mia Slama all secured wins to move into the round of 16. Tanasie provided one of the weekend's highlights with an upset victory over No. 49 Liv Hovde of Duke to reach the quarterfinals, joining Broadfoot and Zyryanova among the tournament's final eight competitors.
Zyryanova then advanced to the semifinals with a 6-3, 6-2 straight-sets win over Amelie Smejkalova of Clemson. Her run came to an end in the semifinal round with a loss to No. 29 Ange Oby Kajuru of UNC, sending her into the third-place match against No. 12 Theadora Rabman of North Carolina. With an NCAA Singles Championship berth on the line, No. 38 Zyryanova outlasted the top-seeded Tar Heel in three sets, 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4, to punch her ticket to Orlando next month.
In doubles play, NC State featured three pairs in the field: No. 73 Tanasie and Slama, No. 25 Zyryanova and Conway, and No. 10 Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe. All three duos opened play with victories in the main draw round of 64 to advance to the second round. The pairs of Tanasie and Slama and Zyryanova and Conway then moved through to the round of 16 with second-round wins. Tanasie and Slama led the way in doubles, advancing to the quarterfinals before falling as one of the top eight teams in the region.
