Wolfpack Fall 4-3 to Texas Tech

KNOXVILLE, TN – The No. 10 NC State Women's Tennis team wrapped up their weekend at the ITA Kickoff, hosted by Tennessee on January 24-25.
After a tough 4-1 loss to Ohio State on Friday, the Wolfpack faced Texas Tech in the consolation match. The Red Raiders took an early lead, claiming the doubles point. Despite the setback, NC State fought back hard in singles play to regain momentum. Texas Tech quickly earned its second point of the day on court five, but the Pack responded.
Freshman Michaela Laki put NC State on the board, defeating Avelina Sayfetdinova 6-4, 6-3. Mia Slama followed closely behind, leveling the match with a solid 6-1, 6-4 victory over Elena Daskalova. However, Tech pulled ahead once again with a win on court three, 6-4, 6-2.
In a back-and-forth battle, Zampardo clinched a 7-6(3) win in the first set and carried that momentum into the second, tying the match at 3-3. Unfortunately, Texas Tech ultimately claimed the final singles match to secure the victory.
Looking ahead, the Wolfpack will head to Texas for matches against the Texas Longhorns on January 31 and SMU on February 2.
