RALEIGH, N.C. – Tenth-ranked NC State Women's Tennis found themselves back in the win column with two wins on Friday, sweeping the doubleheader 5-2 over No. 28 Notre Dame and then 7-0 over East Carolina.
The Wolfpack (10-3) ended their three-game losing streak and open their ACC Conference slate after beating Notre Dame for the ninth straight time. In the nightcap, the Wolfpack continued their dominance against East Carolina, as they have yet to lose in their 31 meetings.
After starting the afternoon on the outdoor courts for the first time of the season, rain pushed the Wolfpack back on the indoor courts, but it didn't slow them down.
As they have done so many times this season, No. 13 Amelia Rajecki and Maddy Zampardo picked up a ranked win over No. 32 Carrie Beckman and Julia Andreach, cursing to a 6-1 win. Court three saw Gabriella Broadfoot and Abigail Rencheli win 6-1 as well to put the Wolfpack ahead.
Gina Dittmann and Kristina Paskauskas secured their second doubles victory of the season to help NC State claim the doubles point over the Pirates. They won 6-2 and moved to 2-0 as a pair.
In singles play against the Fighting Irish, the Wolfpack picked up wins on courts one, three, five, and six. Only one match went to three sets as No. 44 Sophie Abrams fell after clinching the first set but dropping the next two.
Dittmann was the first to finish her singles match in straight sets, winning 6-1 and 6-0. It is the second time this season that the senior has won back-to-back games.
Not dropping a set all day was Zampardo, who won 6-4, 6-0 against Carrie Beckman of Notre Dame and 6-2, 6-2 against Isabella Ortiz. While No. 3 Rajecki also continued her impressive season with two more wins on the day.
Freshman Broadfoot earned her second win of the season after defeating. Kexuan Zhou. To close out the night, Paskauskas came away with her fourth win of the year, beating Joan Madi 6-1 and 6-2. It was Paskauskas fourth two set victory of the season.
