NC State finishes in a tie for tenth
WILMINGTON, N.C. - The NC State women's golf team finished its fall schedule on Sunday afternoon, wrapping up the Landfall Tradition hosted by UNCW in a tie for tenth place.
Led by junior Inja Fric, the Wolfpack finished the weekend with a 296 (+8) in the final round of competition. Fric posted two under-par rounds coming on Friday and Sunday, and her three-under performance on the week was good enough to earn a spot amidst a six-way tie for fourth place.
Isabel Amezcua posted an even-par round of 72 on Sunday, her best score of the weekend. Additionally, Natalie Armbruester used three front-nine birdies en route to a final round 76 (+4).
Lauren Olivares Leon rounded out NC State's four counted scores on Sunday, firing a five-over 77 on the final day of play. Lea Klimentova was the Wolfpack's fifth competitor, finishing her weekend with an 82 (+10).
Eighth-ranked South Carolina was the lone team to post an under-par aggregate score on Sunday, resulting in the Gamecocks earning first-place honors at 849 (-15) for the weekend. Michigan, Michigan State, Wake Forest, and Virginia rounded out the top five in one of college golf's most prestigious events, held at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course.
South Carolina was led by Justine Fournand, whose 208 (-8) performance was enough to earn medalist honors.
The Wolfpack will now take a traditional winter intermission, with the team's next tournament set to be the UCF Challenge at the Eagle Creek Golf Club February 6-8.
