NORMAN, Okla. – NC State women's golf struggled on the second day of NCAA Regional play at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla., shooting a combined 16-over par 304 on Tuesday to slip into a tie for 10th of 18 teams with a tournament total of 589 (+13).
Top-seeded Texas now holds the lead through 36 holes with an eight-under 568, while No. 3 Florida and No. 8 Purdue round out the top three with scores of 569 (-7) and 574 (-2), respectively.
Seniors Laura Kowohl and India Clyburn each carded a one-over par 73 in round two to remain in the top 30 of the individual standings. Tuesday marked Kowohl's 100th career round at NC State, as she is the third Wolfpack player this year and 13th in program history to reach the milestone.
The 2019 senior class is the only class in program history to have three players eclipse the 100-round mark.
Monika Hartl turned in a three-over 75 and dropped nine spots into a tie for 33rd, while Lea Klimentova and Naomi Ko both shot an 11-over par 83 to move into T69th and 89th, respectively.
NC State will complete competition Wednesday at the NCAA Norman Regional. Due to anticipated inclement weather, the teams will now tee off in a 12:30 p.m. ET shotgun start in groups of four. The Wolfpack will be paired with Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and TCU on holes eight through 11.
The top six teams and three individuals (not on a qualifying team) from the regional will advance to the NCAA Championship in Fayetteville, Ark., which will take place May 17-22 at The Blessings Golf Club.
