Women’s Golf's 2017-18 Campaign Ends At NCAA San Francisco Regional

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The No. 33 NC State women's golf team concluded its 2017-18 season on a high note at the NCAA San Francisco Regional on Wednesday, posting the second-lowest tournament score in program history at an NCAA Regional and best outing of the spring, an 883 (+19), to finish 13th of 18 teams. The squad carded a final-round score of 291 (+3) on Wednesday at TPC Harding Park, its best 18-hole score of the tournament and lowest in eight rounds.
No. 5 Stanford (856, -8), No. 1 UCLA (860, -4), No. 40 Ole Miss (863, -1), No. 32 Louisville (864, E), No. 16 Kent State (865, +1) and No. 26 Colorado (869, +5) all advanced to the NCAA Championship in the team portion of the tournament.
Laura Kowohl finished in a tie for the third individual spot not on a team advancing to the national tournament in Stillwater, Okla., but ultimately fell in a playoff with Oklahoma State's Emma Bronze. She finished T8th of 96 players, the fourth-best individual finish in program history at an NCAA Regional, with a three-under par 213 after firing a one-under 71 for the third consecutive day. Her showing also marked her fourth top 10 and sixth top 20 finish of her career, as well as the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history at an NCAA Regional.
India Clyburn posted a one-over par 73 in the final round for a combined 221 (+5) to finish T40th, while Cecily Overbey concluded her collegiate career with a 222 after shooting a four-over 76 to take T48th. It marked Overbey's 100th round at NC State, becoming just the 10th person in program history to reach 100 career rounds.
Mim Sangkapong fired a career-best 71 on the final day of play to move 15 spots up the leaderboard and finish in a tie for 68th with a 227 ( +1). Naomi Ko shot an 80 (+8) to wrap up the tournament with a 239 to finish 91st.
