
No. 19 Wiktorin & Rogers Fall in Sweet 16

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Despite winning the second set and taking the match into a third set tiebreak, No. 19 junior Claudia Wiktorin & sophomore Anna Rogers of the NC State women's tennis team were edged 6-1, 6-7(4), 10-6 by No. 14 Ilze Hattingh and Lauryn John-Baptiste of Arizona State Friday afternoon at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
Wiktorin & Rogers' run to the Sweet 16 was the second-straight year the NC State women's tennis team has sent a doubles tandem to the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championship as Rogers advanced last season with Martina Frantova. They end the season with a record of 28-12, the most doubles wins in one season in program history.

How it Happened
Arizona State raced out to a strong start in the opening set, taking it 6-1. The second set was largely a back-and-forth battle; Wiktorin & Rogers took a 6-5 lead however Hattingh and John-Baptiste claimed the sixth game to force a tiebreak.
The seven-point tiebreak got off to an impressive start for Wiktorin & Rogers as strong serving helped them jump out to a 5-1 lead. Hattingh & John-Baptiste showed fight and pushed the score to 6-4 but Wiktorin & Rogers prevailed and won the tiebreak; for the second-straight day the match would be decided in the third set.
Arizona State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 10-point tiebreak, but Wiktorin & Rogers battled back to take a 3-2 lead. Hattingh & John-Baptiste eventually ran away with the set, winning 10-6 for a final score of 6-1, 6-7(4), 10-6.
