
Women’s Golf Tied For Fifth After First Round Of Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Led by senior Cecily Overbey's career low 69 (-3) on Sunday, the NC State women's golf team is in a tie for fifth place out of 17 teams at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate after posting a six-over par 294 in the opening round.
Hosted by Tulane at English Turn Country Club, the Wolfpack is just two shots out of the top three in the team standings. Florida leads the field with a five-under par 283, while Michigan State (294) and UNC-Chapel Hill (292) are in second and third place.
Overbey tied her career low for 18 holes as she is in a tie for third out of 90 players, and India Clyburn shot a one-over 73 to share a tie for 20th in the individual standings.
Naomi Ko and Mim Sangkapong each shot 76 (+4) to sit in a tie for 40th while Laura Kowohl opened the tournament with a five-over par 77 and is in a tie for 57th.
NC State will continue play Monday at the Allstate Sugar Bowl, and is slated to tee off hole one between 10:45 and 11:21 a.m. ET with players from Southern Cal and UCF.
