Rebol Wins Championship of Top Singles Flight on Final Day of Gopher Invitational
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Junior Amanda Rebol ensured the NC State women's tennis team ended the Gopher Invite on a high note, as she won the championship of the top singles flight on Sunday at the Baseline Tennis Center.
Singles
Playing in the top singles flight, Rebol triumphed in the Championship match 6-5, 6-3 over River Hart of Minnesota.
Senior Tayla Stenta earned third in her flight as she overcame Minnesota's Mehvish Safdar 2-6, 6-3, (9)
Freshman Taylor Bridges earned her second career college singles win in as many days, as she toppled South Dakota's Marta-Anna Tynna 6-2, 6-0.
Doubles
The duo of Stenta and Bridges split its doubles matches. They began the day defeating Nebraska's Jeannie Lozowski and Emily Rees 6-2, then fell 6-4 to Vargas and Frei of Minnesota.
Rebol was happy with her performance, but is still hungry to build off of it and accomplish more as the season progresses.
"It was a fun weekend filled with good competition," she explained. "I'm really happy about the way I finished. It's a good start to my junior year and I am excited for what's to come."
