NC State Softball Drops Series Finale to Boston College

Meredith Burroughs and Tyler Ross hit solo home runs
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team hit a pair of home runs Sunday afternoon, but the Wolfpack came up short in the series finale against Boston College, 5-2, at Dail Stadium.

NC State falls to 21-29 and 4-14 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play, while Boston College moves to 24-20 and 7-8 in league action.

The Rundown
- NC State struck first in the contest with a pair of runs to grab a 2-0 lead, following solo home runs by Tyler Ross and Meredith Burroughs.
- For the second consecutive game, Ross led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run. She drove the 1-2 pitch out of the ballpark for her 16th home run.
- Two batters later, Burroughs crushed a 2-2 delivery from Boston College's Jessica Dreswick for her 12th homer, forcing the Eagles to make a pitching change.
- Boston College countered in the next inning, scoring four runs, three of which were unearned, to grab a 4-2 advantage.
- With the bases loaded, the Eagles drew a walk to push across the first run of the game. A throwing error by the Wolfpack plated two runs for BC to give them a 3-2 lead.
- A groundout allowed the fourth run of the frame to score for Boston College and they added another run on a wild pitch in the fifth to extend the lead to 5-2.
- NC State threatened in the bottom of the fifth, putting runners at first and second after a couple singles but was unable to get them in.
