Wolfpack Win Streak Snapped

NC State baseball saw its eight-game winning streak snapped Sunday at No. 19 Georgia Tech
The Wolfpack (26-10, 10-6 ACC) slipped into a 4-0 deficit in the bottom third. Chance Shepard's grand slam tied it in the top fourth. Brock Deatherage followed with a solo shot to grant the Pack a 5-4 advantage. Georgia Tech (24-11, 8-9) scored one in the fifth and six in the sixth to take an 11-5 lead. NC State narrowed the gap to 11-7 with two in the seventh, before five more Yellow Jackets crossed in the eighth to set the final 16-7.
Back-to-back homers from Shepard and Deatherage marked the first occurence since Josh McLain and Preston Palmeiro pulled the feat at Coastal Carolina on February 20. Deatherage finished the afternoon 2-for-4 with his third bomb of the season. Shepard's represents his 10th of the year.
Joe Dunand went 2-for-5 with a run and his 12th double. Andrew Knizner doubled to drive in a run during the seventh, scoring later. Brett Kinneman went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run, and an RBI.
Wolfpack starter Ryan Williamson (6-1) took the loss on 5 2/3 innings, seven earned on seven hits and four walks, striking out four. Austin Staley followed to face three batters. Evan Brabrand worked the next two innings. Sean Adler registered the final out.
