Six different Wolfpackers homer on the day

RALEIGH, N.C. – Six NC State players hit a home run Wednesday afternoon at Dail Stadium, as the Wolfpack softball team earned a doubleheader sweep against Campbell. The Wolfpack won game one of the twin bill, 8-5, and run-ruled the Camels in game two, 9-1.

The Wolfpack improves to 19-24 on the season, while Campbell falls to 19-22.

The Rundown (Game One)
- Despite Campbell scoring first in the contest after a solo home run, NC State countered in the bottom of the first inning to grab a 4-1 lead.
- Tyler Ross led off with a double to left center and scored later in the frame on an RBI groundout by Meredith Burroughs to level the score at one.
- Following a pair of walks, Hannah Yeager stepped to the plate and smacked a three-run homer over the left field fence to give NC State a 4-1 advantage. It was her fourth round-tripper of the season.
- Campbell cut into the lead with a couple runs in the third, but the Wolfpack added another in the bottom of the inning thanks to Burroughs' ninth home run of the year, a solo shot to left center to make it 6-3.
- Ross hit an RBI triple, her first of the season, to extend the NC State lead to 7-3 in the fourth as Alyssa Compton scored from first base.
- An RBI single helped Campbell plate a run in the top half of the sixth, but the Wolfpack answered once again as Molly Hutchison sent one sailing over the outfield wall for her ninth homer to put the Pack ahead, 8-4.
- It was the third consecutive game that the junior has hit a home run.
- Campbell scored a run in the top of the seventh, but could not get any closer and the Wolfpack held on for an 8-5 win.

Quick Hits
- Ross paced the Pack at the plate with a perfect 3-for-3 outing with two runs scored and an RBI, while Burroughs was 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
- Compton, Hutchison and Yeager each had one hit in the contest.
- Six of NC State's runs were scored with two outs, while four of Campbell's runs came with a pair of outs in the inning.

In the Circle
- Courtney Mirabella started in the circle for NC State and pitched six innings to earn the win (12-12). She struck out five batters and allowed four earned runs.
- Harli Hubbard relieved her and pitched the final frame, one run on two hits with a strikeout.

The Rundown (Game Two)
- NC State scored nine unanswered runs in the second game of the twin bill to earn its fifth run-rule victory of the season, 9-1.
- After Campbell scored a run in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly, Hanna Sommer walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning for NC State to knot the tally at one.
- The Wolfpack scored four runs the following inning, after a walk with the bases loaded, wild pitch and a two RBI single by Maggie Hawkins to grab a 5-1 advantage.
- Three solo home runs across four at-bats in the fifth helped NC State extend its lead to 8-1.
- Brittany Nimmo hit a pinch-hit home run to right field and two batters later, Lana Van Dyken crushed a pitch to deep right field for her first home run of the season.
- After Van Dyken's blast, Ross stepped to the plate next and clubbed a long ball to right center.
- Ross contributed a walkoff single in the bottom of the sixth, as Yeager scored from third base to push NC State's lead to eight for the run-rule victory.

- Van Dyken was an unblemished 2-for-2 in game two of the twin bill with an RBI and a run scored thanks to her first homer of the season.
- Ross was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while four other Wolfpack batters had one hit.
- Burroughs, Hawkins, Nimmo and Yeager each had a hit in the contest.

In the Circle
- Nimmo started on the mound in game two and delivered a strong outing, striking out three batters and only allowed one run on two hits.
- Hubbard took the ball next and tossed a hitless inning of relief with a strikeout.

On Deck
NC State returns to action this weekend when it travels to New York for a three-game ACC series against Syracuse. First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m., while Sunday's game will commence at noon.
