Wolfpack Women Earn Second-Highest Finish In Program History At NCAAs

NC State finished ninth in the team standings
ATLANTA- The NC State women's swimming and diving program marked history Saturday night at the 2016 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships inside the McAuley Aquatic Center, as the team tabbed a ninth-place finish in the team standings with 155 points.
Out of a field of 47 teams that scored points the Wolfpack women's performance stands as the second-highest finish in program history at the NCAA Championship, as the team collected 31 All-America honors and broke six school records over the four-day competition.
The last time NC State broke into the top-10 of the team standings at the national championship was in 1982 under Bob Weincken.

Wolfpack Relays
The 400 freestyle relay team of Alexia Zevnik, Courtney Caldwell, Natalie Labonge and Krista Duffield earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:12.61, as Zevnik's leadoff split stands as a school record.
Freestyle
Hannah Moore collected the third All-America honor of her career with the Wolfpack in the 1,650 free, as she broke her school record with a time of 15:47.20 to finish fourth in the overall standings and tab first team All-America honors.
Additionally, Rachel Muller earned honorable mention All-America honors in the event as she finished 12th with a mark of 16:04.95.
Backstroke
Zevnik garnered the second top-eight individual finish of her career at NCAAs this week after breaking her 200 backstroke school record. She finished seventh in the final standings to earn first team All-America honors, touching the wall at 1:51.06.
Springboard Action
Diver Rachel Mumma completed her showing at the championship on the boards for the Pack as she finished 35th with a score of 207.75 on platform.
Up Next
The Wolfpack women will return to Raleigh as select swimmers will begin preparation for their respective Olympic Trials, which will be held in April for some members.
The NC State men will take its turn in Atlanta next week for the NCAA Championships, hosted by Georgia Tech inside the McAuley Aquatic Center as well, March 23-26. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. while finals will commence at 6 p.m. each day.
