Tsui Finishes 25th in Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, P.R. - No. 20 NC State’s Vivian Tsui led the Wolfpack by claiming a share of 25th at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic over three days at Rio Mar Country Club’s River Course, Tuesday.
The Pack dropped one spot after a 25-over 313 in the final round, finishing the spring’s opening tournament in eighth of 15 teams, knocking off No. 33 TCU, No. 38 Iowa State, No. 40 Kent State, and No. 50 Michigan in the process.
Tsui struggled on Tuesday with an 8-over 80 after posting rounds of 74 and 73 over the first 36 holes. The freshman managed to hang in the top-25 despite the setback, giving her four finishes of 25th or better in the Pack’s five tournaments this season.
Brittany Marchand fired State’s best round of the day, a 2-over 74, to pick up 11 spots down the stretch and move into 30th. Augusta James and Ana Menendez finished in a tie for 38th with three-day totals of 231.
Playing as an individual, Lindsay McGetrick, a freshman who took home the Pasty Rendleman Invitational crown in the fall, posted her best round of the week with a 77 to finish 69th.
No. 10 LSU claimed the team title with a three day total of 884, topping No. 11 Georgia by two shots. Georgia’s Marta Silva Zamora’s 3-under par 213 took medalist honors.
The Wolfpack’s next test comes February 27 at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge in Weston, Fla. The two-day event wraps up February 28.
