NC State Opens Weekend with Win Over BYU

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. --- 39th-ranked NC State scored a 5-1 victory over BYU Saturday on the campus of Minnesota.
The Pack (4-1) topped the Cougars in five of six singles matches on the day. No doubles matches were played.
NC State set the tone early as 23rd-ranked Sanaa Bhambri dropped Megan Price, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, while Lenka Hojckova, playing in the #2 spot, dispatched Elle Carney 6-3, 6-2.
Freshmen Joelle Kissell and Christy Sipes both continued their winning ways as Kissell managed a 6-3, 6-4 win against Callie Craig, and Sipes pulled out a 6-4, 6-0 decision against Liza Ezhova.
Playing in the #3 position, Tatiana Illova posted the Pack’s most lopsided win, getting past Desiree Tran 6-1, 6-1.
