Pack in 4th ACC Women's Golf Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. NC State is fourth in the team standings and has three players in the top-13 individually after day one of the ACC Women’s Golf Championship held at Sedgefield Country Club.
The 35th-ranked Wolfpack shot a team total of 302 (+18) at the par 71, 6,355-layout. Wake Forest leads at 286 (+2), followed by Virginia (+11) and North Carolina (+16).
Playing in her final ACC Championship, senior Lauren Doughtie held her round together to finish with a team-low three-over-par 74. She had three birdies today, including one at 15 that left her just one-over, but bogeys at No. 16 and 18 left her tied for ninth among the field of 44 competitors.
Juniors Emily Street and Kathleen Strandberg both fired four-over 75’s on Friday and is tied for 13th through 18 of 54 holes.
Street was at even par at the turn after trading one bogey and one birdie at holes four and five. She struggled on the back with five bogeys, but did pick up another birdie on the par-5 15th.
Strandberg also birdied the par-5 fifth hole and made the turn at one-over. After a bogey at No. 10 the local native from Greensboro birdied 11 and 12 to move back to even par, but she gave back one stroke at No. 14 and then tripled the 15th, but rallied with three pars to finish.
Freshman Meghan Chapman fired a seven-over 78 in her first appearance in the ACC Championship. She was unable to get any red numbers on her round that featured seven bogeys and 11 pars.
Redshirt Junior Joanna Saleeby shot an 86 on a tough day for the Raleigh native and is tied for 38th.
Wake Forest’s Natalie Sheary set a new women’s course record with a 66 (-5) and leads the field by three strokes.
