Street Fires 69 Sunday at Bryan National Final Round

BROWNS SUMMITT, N.C. – Freshman Emily Street recorded the best round of her young career with a three-under 69 on Sunday afternoon during the third and final round of the ultra-competitive Bryan National Collegiate at Bryan Park Golf Club’s Champions Course.
Among a field that includes eight of the top-20 ranked women’s golf teams in the country, NC State finished 17th overall with a 54-hole total of +77 (314-318-309=941).
Street, who hails from Forest City, N.C., had four birdies this afternoon to post the best round by any Wolfpack golfer this season. She wound up with only one bogey and 13 pars to tie for the second-best round of the day. Only Tennessee’s Marci Turner had a better round with a 68.
Street improved 36 places from Saturday to finish tied for 24th overall at +13 (80-80-69=229), her best 54-hole score of the season.
Lauren Doughtie shot a second straight round of 80 on Sunday to finish 56th +19 (75-80-80=235).
Junior Stephanie Derrey shot a seven-over 79 to match her first-round effort on Friday. The Paris, France native finished tied for 57th overall at +20 (79-78-79=236).
Freshman Kathleen Strandberg finished in a tie for 83rd overall at +29 (80-84-81=245), while classmate Joanna Saleeby finished 87th at +33 (85-80-84=249).
Florida’s Sandra Gai and Purdue’s Maria Hernandez tied for the individual lead after 54 holes at –1 (215). Hernandez garnered medallist honors by winning the sudden death playoff on the third hole.
Purdue captured the team title with a six-over 294 today to win by seven strokes over Florida, who entered the day with the lead.
NC State will now prepare for the ACC Championship next weekend at Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, N.C.
