Women's Golf Finishes 10th at Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO – Lauren Doughtie shot a one-over-par 73 during Sunday’s final round of the 2007 Lady Puerto Rico Classic to lead NC State to a 10th place finish among 16 teams at the 6,168-yard Coco Beach Golf Course.
Doughtie, a sophomore from Suffolk, Va., had an up-and-down round, tallying four birdies, five bogeys and nine pars to finish in a tie for 36th over the three-day tournament. She finished with a 54-hole score of + 12 (77-78-73=228).
Junior Stephanie Derrey fired a five-over 77 during the final round to place in a tie for 39th with a score of +13 (77-75-77=229).
Freshman Kathleen Strandberg was one shot behind Derrey at +14 (73-80-77+230) after a final round 77 to finish tied for 40th.
Freshman Emily Street finished at +16 (76-82-74=232), tied for 45th, after a two-over-par 74 on Sunday, which featured the Forest City, N.C., native shooting a 35 on the back nine.
Senior Nancy Mountcastle finished tied for 56th with a three-day total of +21 (77-78-82=237).
Auburn won the team title with a combined score of +9 (292-284-297=873). Georgia and Oklahoma State finished in a tie for second at 878.
Alina Lee (Georgia), Jenny Suh (Alabama), Valentine Derrey (TCU), Pernilla Lindberg (Oklahoma State) and Mariana Macias (Auburn) all tied for medallist honors with a +1 (217).
NC State gets back to action at the Pinehurst Classic on March 5-6 in Pinehurst, N.C.
