Women's Golf Finishes 4th in New Mexico

LAS CRUCES, N.M. The NC State women’s golf team finished tied for fourth at the 2007 Price’s “Give Em Five” Invitational on Wednesday after beginning the day with a one-shot lead.
The field of 16 teams competed at the New Mexico State University Golf Course, a par-72, 6,319-yard track.
The 21st-ranked Wolfpack shot a team total of 306 today after posting the best round of day two with a (+11) 299. At the time it put the Pack in position for its first win since the Papa John’s Collegiate in February of 2006.
Oklahoma, which trailed the Wolfpack by three strokes to start the day, won the event at +38 (902), four strokes better than Idaho (906). UC Davis was one shot behind the Vandals, then the Wolfpack at +44 (303-299-306=909).
Lauren Doughtie fired a second-straight two-over round of 74 to finish tied for 11th at +8 (76-74-74=224). It was the seventh career top-20 finish for the Suffolk, Va., native who entered the tournament ranked No. 71 by Golfstat and 76th by Golfweek/Sagarin.
Stephanie Derrey began the day tied for eighth in the field, but a six-over 78 dropped her back into a tie for 15th at +10 (74-74-78=226). However, she did finish in the top-20 for the second straight tournament.
Joanna Saleeby rallied with a three-over 75 to post her first career top-20 finish in four career tournaments. The Raleigh native finished at +12 (74-79-75=228).
Emily Street struggled to an eight-over 80 today to finish tied for 31st at +15 (79-72-80=231).
It marked the first time this year she placed out of the top-20 for the sophomore who is ranked No. 35 by Golfstat and No. 45 in the nation by Golfweek/Sagarin.
Freshman Julie Saleeby finished tied for 58th at +22 (79-80-79=238).
The Wolfpack return back to North Carolina and will next compete at the Landfall Tradition hosted by UNC Wilmington on Oct. 26-28. It will be the final event of the fall for the Pack.
