
Comeback Pack Vaults To Fifth After Round Two

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The NC State women's golf team launched a massive comeback in the second round of the Franklin Street Partners Invitational Saturday morning, shooting four-over-par at the par-72, 6,285-yard Finley Golf Course. An improvement of 25 strokes from its first round score, the Wolfpack vaulted from ninth place to fifth place in the field of nine teams.
Molly Birmingham carded a two-under score in the second round to lead NC State. She birdied six holes on the day and is now four-over heading into the final round and is tied for 11th place.
Colby Cobb came in one-over in the second round and is now six-over and tied for 14th. Lorraine Ballerano shot even par in the second round after firing 11-over in the first round. She made six birdies Saturday. Nancy Mountcastle shot seven-over in round two, a repeat of her first round score and Ashlee Dean made a six-stroke turnaround with a five-over second round total.
Duke leads the tournament at four-under and Blue Devil Elizabeth Janangelo is in first place with at four-under. The tournament concludes Sunday with a final round of 18 holes. Complete results and live scoring from the Franklin Street Partners Invitational are available at www.golfstat.com.
