
Mountcastle Leads Pack In Opening Round of ACC/SEC Challenge

DESTIN, Fla. - The NC State women's golf team opened play Friday in the fifth annual Chrysler ACC/SEC Challenge and sits in 12th place in the field of 16 teams after one round of 18 holes. Nancy Mountcastle is tied for 18th place, leading the Wolfpack with a three over par score at the par 71, 5,937-yard Raven Course at the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort.
Ashlee Dean trails Mountcastle by one stroke and is tied for 33rd. Colby Cobb is seven over and Molly Birmingham followed a 38 on the front nine holes with a 43 on the back nine to finish the first round 10 over. Lorraine Ballerano is 13 over heading into the second round.
Virginia and Auburn lead the tournament at eight over. The Tigers' Diane Ramage and Laura Crawford from Wake Forest are tied for first place at one under. Play continues at the ACC/SEC Challange Saturday with a second round of 18 holes and the tournament concludes Sunday. Complete results are available at www.seminoles.com.
