Wolfpack Suffers Loss to Clemson, 6-1

CLEMSON, S.C. - NC State fell to conference foe Clemson (5-6, 1-1)on the road Saturday, 6-1. The loss is the second in league play, bringing the Wolfpack's record to 5-5.
Clemson swept the doubles matches to grab the point early in play. The Tiger's team of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie defeated NC State's Katrina Gildemeister and Kristen Nicholls by a score of 8-4 at number one doubles. In the number two match, Clemson's Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya were victorious over Myrna Bawono and Jennifer Jassawalla, 8-3. The Tigers' Richele LeSaldo and Ioana Paun won an 8-5 decision over NC State's Landis Strader and Loni Worsley at number three doubles.
In singles action, Senior Kristen Nicholls marked a positive light for the Wolfpack tabbing a victory in the number three match over Clemson's Anna Dolinska 7-5, 6-3. Nicholls has recorded wins in her last three matches.
Clemson freshman Alix Lacelarie defeated Katrina Gildemeister by a score of 6-2, 6-4 at number one singles. Tiger Anna Savitskaya earned a win at the two spot over Myrna Bawono, 6-2, 6-2, while the Tigers' Ioana Paun earned a three-set victory over Loni Worsley of N.C. State, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 at number four singles. Clemson's Ana Stiglic won a 7-6(11), 6-4 decision over the Wolfpack's Jennifer Jassawalla at the five singles position and Milena Stanoycheva of the Tigers was victorious in the six singles slot over N.C. State's Stadelmann, 7-6(6), 6-0.
The Wolfpack will take a break from conference action and travel to Charleston to meet with East Tennesse State Tuesday, March 12 at 2 p.m.
