Women's Tennis Loses Home Opener

Raleigh, N.C. - NC State dropped its third match of the young season to undefeated Coastal Carolina (5-0) Saturday afternoon in Raleigh. This was the first home match of the season for the Wolfpack (2-3).
In doubles, senior co-captains Katrina Gildemeister and Kristen Nicholls defeated Coastal's Emma Kidd and Lara Lendemann (8-4) in the No. 1 pairing. Despite the win, CCU picked up the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Myrna Bawono and Jennifer Jassawalla fell to Medina Bajamrabasic and Dana Goffin (8-3) in the No. 2 spot, while CCU's Marie Matrka and Stepnie Koot proved to be just a little too much for No. 3 doubles Loni Worsley and Landis Strader, defeating them by a score of 8-6.
NC State picked up two points in singles action with wins by Worsley and Jassawalla. Worsley, in the No. 3 position, defeated Goffin in straight sets of 6-4, 6-2. Jassawalla was able to over-take Matrka 6-3, 7-5.
Gildemeister, Bawono and Strader all fell in three sets at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 respectively. CCU's Bajamrabasic dominated Nicholls in No. 2 action, winning in straight sets of 6-4, 6-0.
The Wolfpack will be in action Sunday at 1 p.m. as they host the 49ers of Charlotte.
