Wolfpack Women Finish 11th At Pine Needles

Southern Pines, N.C. - NC State's women's golf team completed the fall season with an 11th place finish at the Pine Needles Invitational in Southern Pines, N.C. The Wolfpack, competing in its first season since the program was reinstated for the first time in 15 years, shot a season-best 953. The Pack cut their previous best tournament score by over 40 shots.
Malin Claesson led NC State with a three-day total of 226 to earn her first career top-20 finish. The Kalmar, Sweden native fired a 74 (42-32) in the final round. Chloe Ritson finished in a tie for 36th with a 54-hole score of 236. Raleigh native Sarah Davis carded a 241 to finish in a tie for 44th place.
Michigan State won the event with a three-round total of 890 to finish three shots ahead of South Florida. Fany Schaeffer of South Florida won the individual title by defeating Campbell's Laura Torrisi in a sudden-death playoff.
The event completes NC State's fall season. The Wolfpack will open its fall schedule on February 27 at the Carolinas Collegiate Classic at Pinehurst, N.C.
