BERKELEY, Calif. - NC State women's soccer closed its regular season with a 2-1 victory over Cal at Edwards Stadium on Sunday. Daisy Duda provided the game-winning goal as the Wolfpack finished the regular season with 11 wins, marking the program's first double-digit win total in a regular season since 2017.
Carly Montgomery put NC State on the board in the 43rd minute off an assist from Antonella Mazziotto. Madison Casteen sent a free kick toward the box that appeared to be heading out of bounds, but Mazziotto kept the ball in play and found Montgomery for the finish to give the Wolfpack a halftime lead.
Cal equalized in the 50th minute after being awarded a penalty kick, which Soleil Dimry converted.
The Wolfpack responded quickly, regaining the lead in the 55th minute when Duda found the back of the net off Mazziotto's second assist of the afternoon. Duda's goal proved to be the difference as NC State secured the 2-1 win, earning its fourth ACC victory and three points to close out the regular season.
Of Note
NC State will await its fate for the 2026 NCAA Tournament, with the Selection Show airing Monday, Nov. 16.
