Bordeleau, Montgomery Named 2026 Women’s Soccer Captains

RALEIGH, N.C. – Seniors Jade Bordeleau and Carly Montgomery have been selected as the 2026 NC State women's soccer captains, head coach Gary Higgins announced Tuesday. Both earned the honor for the first time in their collegiate careers and will lead the Wolfpack on and off the field during the upcoming season.
Bordeleau is coming off one of the Wolfpack's top individual seasons in recent years after leading NC State with 21 points on 10 goals and one assist in 2025. Her 10-goal campaign made her the program's first player to reach double figures in goals since Tziarra King scored 13 in 2019. The Terrebonne, Quebec, native earned All-ACC Second Team honors, becoming the program's first second-team selection since Jameese Joseph in 2021 and its first All-ACC honoree since 2023. Bordeleau also became the only NC State player this century to score in five consecutive matches, a streak spanning Sept. 18 through Oct. 9, while helping the Wolfpack record its most overall wins since 2022 and most ACC points since 2019.
Montgomery joined the Wolfpack this summer after spending the previous three seasons at Texas, where she appeared in 60 matches along the backline and earned her bachelor's degree. She helped the Longhorns capture the 2023 Big 12 Championship and the 2024 SEC Championship, scoring the game-winning goal in Texas' 1-0 victory over South Carolina in the SEC Tournament title match. Montgomery also earned Big 12 All-Freshman Team honors in 2023 before returning to her home state of North Carolina, where the Charlotte native competed for Charlotte Soccer Academy prior to beginning her collegiate career.
The Wolfpack opens the 2026 season Wednesday, Aug. 12, at James Madison at 7 p.m. The match will air live on ESPN+. NC State's home opener is set for Thursday, Aug. 20, against Charlotte at 5 p.m. at Dail Soccer Stadium.
