Wolfpack Wins NCAA Tournament Round of 64 Game Over Tennessee

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The NC State women's basketball team took care of business in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64 game to sweep Tennessee this season with a 76-61 victory. NC State has improved its record in first round games to 14-8, and the Pack has now won eight of the last nine Round of 64 matchups.
NC State has improved to 21-10 on the season. Tennessee ended its season with a 16-14 mark.
Zamareya Jones led the Pack with a career-high 30 points off 9-of-15 from the field with five steals. Khamil Pierre earned her 22nd career double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Qadence Samuels had a solid performance with 12 points, five rebounds and two steals and Destiny "Ky'She" Lunan was key down the stretch, stepping up with four big free throws and had three steals.
NC State used a hot start in the first half, shooting 71 percent from the field in the first quarter. The Wolfpack used a 15-0 run to take a 19-4 lead with 4:59 left in the first. NC State led 40-29 at the half.
The Wolfpack endured a big push by Tennessee in the third quarter, who used a 17-8 run in the beginning of the third to cut the lead to two with three minutes left in the quarter. The Pack answered with a 6-0 run in the third to lead 57-48 after the third quarter.
NC State closed out the game outscoring Tennessee 19-13 in the fourth quarter to close out with a 76-61 victory.
The Pack was aggressive and shot 25 free throws, shooting 21-of-25 from the line (84.0). Jones was fouled 12 times and went 10-of-13 from the free throw line. NC State won the battle in points off turnovers (23-18), points in the paint (40-24) and fast breaks (11-4). NC State also had 11 steals and held the Lady Vols to 19.4 percent from beyond the arc (7-of-36).
NC State has now won its fourth win over a No. 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament, as well as the second win over Tennessee in an NCAA Tournament. The Pack is now 36-30 in NCAA Tournaments.
The Pack will play Michigan in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 on Sunday, March 22 at 1 p.m. on ABC
