RALEIGH, N.C. – After a dominant week at the plate and in the circle, NC State freshman Morgen Talley was named the D1 Softball National Freshman of the Week and the ACC Freshman of the Week, the organizations announced Tuesday.
Talley is the first member of the Pack to earn weekly national recognition from D1 Softball since the organization introduced its weekly awards in 2020.
The Palm Harbor, Fla., native delivered a standout all-around performance for the Pack, helping lead the team offensively.
At the plate, the rookie hit .625 while posting an impressive 1.438 slugging percentage. She totaled 10 hits, including four home runs, while driving in 10 RBI and scoring six runs.
Talley recorded a career-high three hits in wins over Elon and Stetson. She also blasted two home runs against Elon, marking the first multi-home run game of her career.
Defensively, Talley was flawless, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage through five games.
In addition to her work at the plate and in the field, Talley also contributed in the circle, earning a 1–0 record across 9.1 innings pitched. She threw a complete-game shutout against Mercer, allowed just two earned runs against Michigan State, and struck out 12 batters.
The honors are the first of Talley's young career and make her the first member of the Pack to earn national weekly recognition from D1 Softball.
