Last Time Out
NC State was shut out for the first time this season, falling 1-0 to Pitt on Thursday, Oct. 8, at Dail Soccer Stadium.
Neither team scored in the first half, with the Wolfpack outshooting Pitt, 6-3. Fien Leijdekker found the back of the net on a breakaway, but the goal was ruled offside. Pitt broke the deadlock in the 67th minute through Desiree Reed. The Pack had late chances to equalize, including shots by Erica Roberts and Carly Montgomery, but could not find the back of the net.
Series History
Thursday will mark the 10th meeting between NC State and Syracuse, with the Wolfpack holding a 5-2-2 advantage in the all-time series.
The teams last faced off in 2024, playing to a 1-1 draw as Mana Nakata recorded an assist for the Pack. In their previous meeting in Raleigh, NC State earned a 2-0 victory over the Orange in 2023.
Scouting the Orange
Syracuse enters Thursday's match at 4-7-2 overall and 1-5-0 in ACC play. The Orange earned their first conference win with a 2-1 victory over Pitt on Sept. 24, but have since fallen to No. 15 Virginia and No. 8 Stanford. Syracuse will look to bounce back against the Wolfpack as it continues its ACC schedule.
Head coach Nicky Thrasher Adams is in her eighth season leading the Orange. Associate head coach Brian Dunleavy and assistant coach and goalkeeper coach Michele Barletta are both in their first seasons with Syracuse.
