RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's soccer (4-5-3, 1-3-1 ACC) snapped its four-game losing streak with a 3-0 shutout victory over No. 4 UMKC (8-2-2, 2-0-0 Summit League) on Sunday night at Dail Soccer Field, powered by a hat trick from Aidan Payne.

The Wolfpack handed the Roos their second loss of the season and their first shutout loss of 2026.

Payne opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from Josh Gordon to give NC State a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

NC State had an opportunity to extend its lead early in the second half when it was awarded a penalty kick, but the Wolfpack failed to convert.

Payne struck again in the 70th minute, finding a pass from Abdou-Magib So to double NC State's advantage.

Just over two minutes later, Payne completed his hat trick with his third goal of the night, assisted by Caden Tolentino, to give the Wolfpack a commanding 3-0 lead.

The hat trick marked the first of Payne's collegiate career and brought his season goal total to five.

NC State's defense held first for the remainder of the match, keeping UMKC off the board to secure the shutout victory. Freshman goalkeeper Gabe Lamphere played all 90 minutes and recorded his first career shutout.

The win marked the Wolfpack's second victory over a ranked opponent this season, joining its home win over No. 23 UNCW. It was also the team's second shutout victory of the season.
