
No. 25 Wolfpack Clashes With No. 2 Clemson

RALEIGH, NC – A top-25 matchup comes to Raleigh this weekend as No. 25 NC State baseball gets set to take on No. 2 Clemson from the Doak beginning on Thursday, April 24th at 7 p.m. on ACC Network.
Friday will be a 6 p.m. start, and Saturday's Victory Over Cancer Game will begin at 1 p.m. Both games will be on ACC Network Extra, and all three games can be heard on WKNC 88.1 FM and the Varsity Network App.
NC State Baseball and the V Foundation for Cancer Research will join forces for the second annual Victory Over Cancer Game on Saturday, April 26th. NC State alumni, Trea and Kristen Turner, both passionate advocates for cancer research, are proud supporters of this event and the fight to end pediatric cancer.
Last season, the two programs met in Clemson, with the Tigers also ranked second, seeing NC State take two of three in the series. NC State is 90-124-1 all-time against the Tigers, with a 5-5 record in the last 10 meetings. The series dates back to 1949, with NC State getting the first win 6-1.

Andrew Shaffner was named to the Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List on Wednesday.
The right-handed junior becomes the first Wolfpack pitcher to be named to the midseason watch list since Chris Villaman in 2022. Shaffner has been a key contributor out of the bullpen this season, posting a 2.28 ERA with 31 strikeouts across 27.2 innings pitched. He has appeared in 14 games, compiling a 3-1 record with five saves. He also made one start, taking the mound against Richmond on February 25.
Shaffner joins Justin DeCriscio (Brooks Wallace) and Dominic Fritton (Golden Spikes) as Wolfpack to be named to midseason watch lists.
Anderson Nance was named to NCAA Baseball's Lineup of the Week after coming on in relief and pitching five innings perfect innings with seven strikeouts against Cal.
NC State will look to continue home success at the Doak this season. The Wolfpack is 18-6 this season, continuing to be a dominant home-field advantage for the Wolfpack since 1966. In 2024, the Pack finished with a 28-7 record at The Doak. Since head coach Elliott Avent came to Raleigh to take over the #Pack9 program in 1997, NC State has posted a 647-237 (.732) record in games played at Doak Field at Dail Park. NC State has won 20 or more games at The Doak 23 times since Avent's first year as head coach in 1997.
NC State sits just a half-game out of first place in the ACC standings. If the season ended today, the Wolfpack would be the No. 4 seed in the ACC tournament and secure a double bye.

In a show of support for pediatric cancer awareness, NC State players and coaches will take the field wearing special warmups and hat patches symbolizing the fight against childhood cancer. The game will also welcome local families affected by pediatric cancer, offering them a special pregame experience on the field alongside Wolfpack players and staff.
