
McCarty Breaks Personal Best from ACC Championships as Wolfpack Claims Six More All-American Honors

FEDERAL WAY, WASH. – Following another night of top notch action in Federal Way, Washington, the No. 7 NC State Wolfpack capped off their third session with six more All-American titles.
After a strong start on day one, which included podium finishes in the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay, the Pack entered day two with determination to make an impact in the pool.
In a strong start to the day in prelims, Quintin McCarty, the ACC Champion in the 50 freestyle, surpassed his personal best from this year's ACC Championship (18.63), clocking a new best time of 18.62. This performance not only earned McCarty a spot in the A-final of the 50 free but also secured the second-fastest time in program history. Drew Salls, making his NCAA finals debut, also posted a career-best time of 18.90 in the prelims, earning a spot in the B-final.
In the evening, Salls finished 16th with a time of 19:09, securing his first All-American title. In the A-final, Quintin McCarty placed 8th, earning his second All-American title in the 50 freestyle and his third All-American honor of the week.
The men's 200 freestyle relay team concluded the evening with a fifth-place finish, posting a time of 1:14.37. This achievement marks the fifth consecutive year the Wolfpack has earned All-American honors in the event, with the time also ranking third in program history. This moment was made even more special for fifth-year swimmer Luke Miller, who earned his 20th All-American title with the Wolfpack, tying Kacper Stokowski for the fourth-most decorated male swimmer in NC State history.
Looking ahead to day three of competition, the Pack will compete in the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and 400 medley relay events. Heading into day three, NC State sits in eighth place with 90 points on the board.
