Mathews and McLaughlin Lead Pack at Hootie Intercollegiate

AWENDAW, S.C. – NC State men's golfers Nick Mathews and Cade McLaughlin posted top-15 individual finishes to lead the Pack at the Hootie Intercollegiate played at Bulls Bay Golf Club.
As a team, NC State finished in a tie for 10th place out of 16 teams.
Mathews and McLaughlin each finished the three-round tournament with scores of seven-under par.
Nick Mathews got better each round at the Hootie as he followed up an opening round even-par 72 with a two-under 70 in the second round and finished the event with a five-under par 67 in the final round on Tuesday.
Cade McLaughlin opened the Hootie with a five-under par 67 and after a 73 on Monday, closed the event with a three-under par 69 to finish tied with Mathews in 13th place.
Michael Vick was next for the Pack in a tie for 42nd place at one-under par for the event. Vick shot even-par 72 in the first and second rounds before shooting a one-under par 71 in Tuesday's final round.
Joey Lenane finished in a tie for 71st place and Xander Goboy in a tie for 79th place to round out NC State's lineup.
NC State returns to action Tuesday, April 8 when it plays in the one-day Bush Cup which is a special all-day event against Army. The match will be played at Old Chatham Golf Club.
