Nick Mathews Named PING Honorable Mention All-America

NORMAN, Okla. – NC State men's golfer Nick Mathews was named an honorable mention 2024 Division I PING All-American on Wednesday as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Mathews played in 12 collegiate tournaments this past season and finished in the top-25 in 10 of the events, including four top-10 performances and three finishes in the top-five.
The Mebane, N.C., native recently finished tied for 15th out of 150 golfers at the NCAA DI National Championship. Mathews 15th place finish is the best for an NC State golfer in the season-ending tournament since Matt Hill won the individual title at the NCAA Championships in 2009.
Mathews qualified for the NCAA Championship after placing in a tie for second in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional. Mathews score of 12-under par tied with Benjamin Shipp (2018) for the lowest 54-hole score in an NCAA Regional in program history. The 12-under par score is the best 54 hole score of Mathews career.
Finley Golf Club is a par 70 course and Mathews total score of 198 is just the second time in program history and NC State golfer shot under 200 for 54 holes.
For the season, Mathews led NC State with a 71.81 stroke average and he played 18 of his 36 rounds at even or below par.
