
NC State Gears Up For Round One of NCAA Regional vs. UNCW

RALEIGH, N.C.- No. 14 NC State men's tennis is set to host UNCW at 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 3 at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. After securing the No. 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the NCAA announced Monday that the Wolfpack would be returning to Raleigh to host UNCW, South Carolina, and Old Dominion in the first and second round of the NCAA Tournament.Â
The Pack last hosted an NCAA regional back in 2022 where the Pack welcomed Liberty and Middle Tennessee to the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Pack advanced through the first and second round sending them into the sweet sixteen that year. Â
ÂThe Wolfpack last went head to head against the Seahawks eight long years ago, back in 2016 where the Pack fell short 3-4 in Raleigh. The Pack currently lead the series 6-2. Speaking of eight, Friday will also mark the eighth matchup between an opposing North Carolina School that the Pack have faced so far this season.Â
ÂPack in the Rankings:Â
The Pack head into the weekend with an overall record of 17-6. After a tough loss to Florida State, knocking them out of the ACC tournament. The Wolfpack is ready to pick up the pieces back on its home courts. Thursday, May 2 ITA released its weekly rankings where the Pack checked in at the No. 14 spot in ITA team rankings. Breaking the top-50, Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli jumped to the No. 36 spot in ITA doubles rankings, after being ranked No. 52 just last week. Making an appearance in ITA singles charts was No. 54 Robin Catry, No. 72 Fons Van Sambeek, No. 74 Braden Shick, and No. 123 Luca Staeheli.
ÂScouting the Seahawks:Â
The Seahawks have had a pretty notable regular season picking up a collection of accolades along the way. The Seahawks head into the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 17-5, and remained undefeated in conference play 5-0. The Seahawks are riding high on an eleven match win streak and even clinched the Coastal Athletic Association Championship after defeating Elon 4-1, Apr. 21. The Seahawks feature at the No. 57 spot in ITA Team rankings. Making an appearance in the Seahawks doubles lineup is the No. 61 ranked doubles team Reece Falck and Harold Huens.Â
