
Wolfpack Begins Postseason Action at ACC Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's and women's cross country teams are poised to return to the course on Friday at the 2023 ACC Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Pack opens postseason action after concluding the 2023 regular season at the Nuttycombe Invitational and ECU Pirate Invitational October 13-14.
Last Friday at Nuttycombe, defending individual National Champion Katelyn Tuohy made her season debut in the women's 6k championship and clocked in at 19:29.5 to finish second. Kelsey Chmiel (19:52.9) and freshman Leah Stephens (20:12.7) continued to build on their impressive campaigns as they finished third and 14th, respectively to help lead NC State to a second-place finish with 95 points.
On Saturday in Greenville, Jolena Quarzo (second), Kate Putman (fourth), and Angelina Napoleon (seventh) all ran unattached and recorded top-10 finishes in the women's 6k. Caroline Murrell was the first attached runner to finish for the red and white, as she turned in a time of 21:44.8 to take eighth.
In the men's 8k, David Vorbach ran unattached and turned in a performance of 23:27.5 to finish first overall. Ryan Motondo submitted a time of 23:54.1 to finish fifth as the first attached Wolfpack runner.
PACK IN THE POLLS
The women's cross country team checks in at number two in the country according to the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll heading into postseason action. After being picked to finish first in the conference in preseason polls, the women of the Pack are in search of their eighth-consecutive ACC Cross Country Championship. The men's squad was picked to finish sixth in the ACC preseason poll.
