Vicario Turns In Career-Best ACC Championship Showing

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Monika Vicario turned in the best ACC Championship finish of her career (T8th) as the NC State women's golf team competed in the 2021 ACC Women's Golf Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., on Thursday and Friday. As a team, the Wolfpack finished with a three-round total of 928 (+64), finishing in a tie for 10th place out of 12 teams.
NC State will not advance to the match play portion of the championship since it was unable to crack the top four during stroke play.
Vicario put together rounds of 69 (-3), 75 (+3) and 72 (E) for the third top 10 finish of her career and highest showing in the 2021 campaign. Through three rounds, she averaged a score of 2.83 on par-3 holes, which currently ranks tied for first. Additionally, her opening round of 69 marked the third time this season she has posted an under-par score.
For Natalie Armbruester, Ryann Sinclair, Isabel Amezcua and Lea Klimentova, this week marked their first career ACC Championship appearances.
Vicario, Klimentova and Amezcua each posted their best round on Thursday in the first round as the trio fired scores of 69 (-3), 75 (+3) and 76 (+4), respectively. Vicario's stellar first round was highlighted by five birdies. Armbruester shot her best score in the second round, posting a 79 (+7), while Sinclair posted a score of 81 (+9) in rounds one and three.
