
Vicario Collects Top 15 Finish At Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Monika Vicario of the NC State women's golf team notched her first top 15 showing of the season at the Palmetto Intercollegiate this week, finishing in a tie for 13th out of 62 players with scores of 77, 71 and 78 for a combined 226 (+10).
The tournament was hosted by College of Charleston on Feb. 21-22 at Kiawah Island Resort's Turtle Point Course.
Vicario's outing was highlighted by her second-round score of 71 (-1), the team's first under-par score of the season, as three birdies and an eagle were featured on the scorecard. It was the fourth top 15 and eighth top 20 finish of her career.
As a team, the Wolfpack finished 10th of 11 teams with scores of 321, 297 and 324 for a total of 942 (+78) for the tournament. Wake Forest took home the team trophy with a 10-over par 874 (299-288-287), and its own Rachel Kuehn earned medalist honors with an even par score of 216 (73-74-69).
Isabel Amezcua turned in a career-best finish of T31st among the individual standings with scores of 81, 73 and 78 for a 54-hole total of 232 (+16). Her second-round score of 73 marked a career low for the freshman.
In her season debut, Inja Fric finished in a tie for 46th with a 24-over par 240 for the tournament. She posted scores of 83, 75 and 82, in respective order.
Natalie Armbruester and Lea Klimentova rounded out the Pack's scoring, finishing T52nd and 58th with combined scores of 244 (80-78-86) and 253 (81-81-88), respectively.
Additionally, Nicole Kramer competed as an individual to mark her first collegiate outing, and finished T55th with a 30-over par 246 (81-83-82).
The team returns to action March 15-16 when it makes its second trip of the year to South Carolina for the Briar's Creek Invitational, hosted by College of Charleston at the Golf Course at Briar's Creek.
