ATHENS, Ga. – Wolfpack diving junior Madeline Kline capped off NC State's time at the Georgia Diving Invitational by winning the platform on the final day of competition at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. James Brady also picked up a podium finish on the men's side of the event as he took third place to close out the meet.
QUOTING THE COACH:
Head diving coach Yahya Radman
"Today was an awesome day on platform. Our program doesn't have a 10m at our home pool, and our divers did well today. I'm proud of how they performed. It was another fun outing, and we're excited to get back to Raleigh to continue working and preparing for the remainder of our season and the postseason."
After most recently taking second place on the platform at the Indiana Invitational, Kline picked up her first event win of the season at the Georgia Diving Invitational. The reigning ACC champion on the platform, Kline posted a Zone score of 255.70, her best mark of the season and just points shy of her personal record, on the way to taking gold.
Brady followed suit with a podium finish for the Pack men. He remained among the top group of divers for the entirety of the finals, placing third with a Zone mark of 343.30.
Holt Gray (277.20, 11th place), Stewart Spanbauer (263.20, 14th place), Michelle Schlossmacher Smith (173.40, 22nd place) and Taylor Bennett (146.90, 27th place) also saw action on the platform to conclude their time at the Georgia Diving Invitational
NC State's swimmers and divers will compete as a full squad on Jan. 19 as the Wolfpack welcomes UNC-Chapel Hill to Raleigh. The team's home opener is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center.
