Gymnastics Heads to No. 21 Southern Utah

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State gymnastics team faces another test against a top-25 team, as it travels to Cedar City, Utah, for a dual meet against No. 21 Southern Utah Friday at 9 p.m. ET inside the Centrum Arena.

The dual marks the second top-25 opponent in a row and the sixth time NC State has faced a ranked opponent this season.

Scouting SUU:
NC State and the Firebirds met early in the season inside Reynolds Coliseum for a dual. Southern Utah edged the Pack, 195.800-194.650 on Jan. 27th. The Firebirds are currently ranked 21st in the national standings and have a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 195.915 and a season high of 196.725.

Pack In The Polls:
NC State enters the weekend ranked 41st in the national lists with a RQS of 194.475. Individually, Paris Phillips is ranked 55th in the all-around poll with a RQS of 38.805. Chelsea Knight leads NC State on vault with a RQS of 9.795. On bars, Knight and Amanda Fillard lead the team with a RQS of 9.840, which is tied for 57th in the national rankings. Paris Phillips leads the team on floor with a RQS of 9.840, which is tied for 69th in the nation.

Last Time Out:
NC State posted a season-high score of 195.550 inside Reynolds Coliseum during its annual Sweetheart Meet last Saturday night. As a team, the Pack recorded seven top-five finishes, five career-best event scores and posted a season high team score on vault of 49.025.

Rookie of the Week:
After the best meet of her colligate career so far, Melissa Brooker was named the EAGL Rookie of the Week on Feb. 28th. Brooker posted a career best all-around score of 39.150 and tied or set career high scores of 9.750 or higher on three of the four rotations. She'll be back in action as an all-arounder this weekend.
