Wiktorin & Rogers Triumph on Opening Day of ITA All-American Qualifiers

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Junior Claudia Wiktorin and sophomore Anna Rogers were listed as the No. 26 doubles duo on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason poll, and showed why on the opening day of qualifying matches at the 2017 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club.
Doubles
Taking on the team of Princeton's Nicole Kalhorn & Stephanie Schrage, Wiktorin & Rogers prevailed 8-6 in their opening round doubles match.
Wiktorin was pleased with the result along with being eager to take the court again with Rogers tomorrow.
"We played solid and followed the game plan which gave us the chances we wanted throughout the match," she explained. "Overall, we both played well and are excited for the next match tomorrow."
Singles
Later in the day, Rogers fell in a hard-fought battle to Wedny Zhang of Rice 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, then came up short against San Jose State's Sybille Gauvin 6-3, 6-0.
