Men’s Golf to Close Fall Season at Grandover Collegiate

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's golf team closes a successful fall season this weekend when it plays in the UCG/Grandover Collegiate in Greensboro, NC.
The event begins Saturday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The competitors will play 36 holes on Saturday before finishing the tournament with 18 holes on Sunday.
The Pack has won two of the three tournaments it has played this season, winning the Golfweek Conference Challenge in September and the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in October.
In addition to winning team titles in those tournaments, the Pack also claimed medalist honors as Benjamin Shipp won the Golfweek Conference Challenge and Stephen Franken captured the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.

2017 FALL RECAP
- NC State has played in three tournament this fall, winning two of them (Golfweek Conference Challenge and Wolfpack Intercollegiate).
- The two tournament victories so far this season marks the first time since the 2014-15 season that the Pack has won multiple tournaments in a season. The last time NC State won three or more tournaments in a season was the 1995-96 season.
- The Pack opened the year by finishing in fifth place at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate held in Zionsville, Ind.
NC STATE LINEUP
1 – Stephen Franken: Franken has led the Pack this fall with a team-low average score of 70.44 per round. He tied an NC State record for score related to par with a score of 15-under-par when he won the Wolfpack Intercollegiate earlier this month. He has finished in the top-five in two of the three tournaments he has played in this season.
2 – Benjamin Shipp: Shipp won the Golfweek Conference Challenge in September and ranks second on the team in scoring average at 72.33. In winning the Golfweek Conference Challenge, Shipp recorded rounds of 68-69-69 to finish with a score of 10-under-par.
3 – Nolan Mills: Mills has a scoring average of 73.78 this fall. His low round of the season was a 70 in the first round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge to help the Pack jump out to an early lead in a tournament it would go on to win. His best finish of the season was a tie for 13th place at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.
4 – Harrison Rhoades: Rhoades has a scoring average of 73.33 in nine rounds this season. He was the top Pack finisher at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, finishing in a tie for 11th place out of 90 competitors.
5 – Easton Paxton: The lone freshmen on this year's team, Paxton has a scoring average of 72.67 in six rounds for the Pack. He made his NC State debut in the Golfweek Conference Challenge, finishing in a tie for 19th place out of 75 golfers. He has shot par or lower in four of his six rounds this year.
Competing as Individuals:
Dwight Cauthen: Cauthen made his season-debut in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in October, competing as an individual. He shot his best round of the tournament in the third and final round with a score of 77.
Justin Hood: Hood has competed in one tournament this season, the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, as an individual. He finished in a tie for 25th place in the tournament, with a three-round score of two-over-par.
Christian Salzar: Salzar has completed six rounds this fall. He competed for the Pack at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in the season-opening tournament and competed as an individual at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate where he finished with a three-round score of seven-over-par.
