Men’s Golf to Host Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate April 16-17

RALEIGH – The NC State men's golf team will play its final regular-season competition of the 2015-16 campaign at a familiar place: Lonnie Poole Golf Course on NC State's Centennial Campus.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The 2016 Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate is a 54-hole tournament played over the course of two days. Teams will play 36 holes Saturday with a shotgun start beginning at 8:45 a.m. The third and final round of the tournament will be played in tee-time format from holes one and ten beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday morning. Admission is free to fans for both days.
THE COURSE
Known as an excellent and challenging course on the NCAA golf circuit, Lonnie Poole Golf Course hosted the 2014 NCAA Men's Regional and the 2015 NCAA Women's Regional and will be home to the 2018 NCAA Men's Regional. Located on 250 acres inside the city of Raleigh, the golf course routing is dictated by large elevation changes. It meanders around large buffer areas that were left in place to protect streams and wetlands in the Neuse River watershed. The buffer provides a protected habitat for wildlife and native plant species. Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson, both graduates of the NC State College of Design, were the lead architects.
For the purposes of the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate, the golf course will play a par of 71 over 7,358 yards.
NOTING THE WOLFPACK
Including both the fall and spring seasons, NC State has posted a combined record of 100-40-3 this season. Wolfpack golfers have combined to earn 12 top-10 finishes and 24 top-20 finishes in tournament play. In 10 total tournaments played, the Wolfpack has finished as a team within the top three on five occasions.

NC State will play two teams and one individual at this weekend's event:
David Cooke - Finished third at NC State's most recent tournament, the Hootie at Bulls Bay.
Stephen Franken - A freshman, NC State's stroke leader at 71.6 per 18 holes.
Jacob McBride - Has earned three top-10 and four top-20 results this season.
Carter Page - NC State's active career rounds leader with 116 played.
Davis Richards - A freshman, ranks third on the team at 72.8 strokes per 18 holes.
Chad Cox - Tied for 18th at the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate.
Nolan Mills Jr. - A freshman, will play in his seventh career tournament this weekend.
Justin Hood - A freshman, tied for second at the Duke-UNC Individual Tournament.
Wilson Day - Tied for 46th at the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate.
William Herring - Participating in the 14th tournament of his career.
DK Kim* - Redshirted during his freshman season (2014-15).
