Gymnastics Travels To Chapel Hill For Quad Meet Saturday

NC State will face EAGL rivals UNC-CH and Pitt, as well as Bowling Green

RALEIGH- Coming off of a second-place finish in its tri-meet with Iowa State and Lindenwood last weekend, the NC State gymnastics team will travel to Chapel Hill to face Bowling Green, Pittsburgh and host UNC Saturday.

The meet is set for a 1 p.m. start inside Carmichael Gymnasium.

From The Coach's Perspective
"We're very excited about the fact that this weekend is somewhat of a home meet for us, with the meet being right up the road in Chapel Hill," said head coach Mark Stevenson.

"Our girls have done well through the first three meets of the season to get us to a point where we're now starting to hit our stride. This weekend should be a great meet that will provide us with some solid conference competition, as we'll face UNC and Pittsburgh along with Bowling Green. Our goal is to hit every routine and do the best that we can as a team, and if we achieve those goals we have a great chance of scoring well."

Last Time Out
The team posted a season-high score of 49.125 on vault and additionally notched five career-best scores on Jan. 29 in its tri-meet with Iowa State and Lindenwood.

The Wolfpack posted a team total of 194.475, while the Cyclones tabbed a team score of 195.650 and the Lady Lions finished the meet with a mark of 194.250.

Where The Pack Stands
Chelsea Knight holds a top-50 ranking among the national polls in the all-around competition, as she is listed at No. 44 with a scoring average of 39.050.

NC State holds top-30 national rankings on two rotations. As a team, the Pack moved up eight spots in the rankings on vault to 21st with a scoring average of 48.792. The squad also moved up to 24th on beam with an average of 48.675.

Additionally, the Wolfpack sits at No. 38 in the national rankings and third among the EAGL standings with an average of 194.267.

EAGL opponent UNC-CH holds a 1-5 record heading into the weekend with a scoring average of 191.867.

In its last time out, North Carolina fell, 194.950-194.275, to No. 11 George Washington inside Carmichael Arena.

Scouting Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, also a member of the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL), will enter the weekend with a 2-8 ledger on the 2016 season. Pitt holds a scoring average of 192.013 through four weeks of competition.

In its last time out, the Panthers posted a score of 193.100 to finish fourth in its quad meet at Michigan State with Rutgers and Towson.

Scouting Bowling Green
Bowling Green is listed at No. 43 in the national rankings with a scoring average of 193.519. The Falcons hold a 1-5 record through four weeks of season competition.

In its last time out, BGSU fell to former No. 14 Denver, 196.125-194.525. The team's score marked a season high.
