@PackWrestle Comes Up Short Against #7 Nebraska

RALEIGH, N.C. - After dropping the first two bouts, the NC State wrestling team evened the score at 7-7, but No. 7 Nebraska won five of the final six matches to defeat the Wolfpack in Reynolds Coliseum Friday night, 22-10.
The dual started at 125 pounds, and Nebraska picked up the first two wins, with both wins by top-10 Cornhuskers. #8 Tim Lambert started with a major decision, followed by #4 Eric Montoya with a decision at 133 pounds.
Down 7-0, the Pack came back to tie it up with back-to-back wins.
No. 5 Kevin Jack started the Pack's scoring with an 8-0 major decision over #10 Colton McCrystal at 141 pounds. Jack scored a takedown in the first, got a reversal to start the second, and another takedown in the third. While on top, Jack forced a pair of stall calls for a point, and with 5:22 of ride time claimed the major decision. The win is Jack's second straight over a top-10 foe, as he defeated #5 Ashnault of Rutgers last weekend.
No. 20 Sam Speno followed Jack's win with a 6-5 decision of his own. With the score tied 4-4 late in the third, Speno scored the winning takedown with 26 seconds left and picked up his sixth straight victory.
Nebraska would retake the lead with back-to-back wins at 157 and 165 pounds to go up 13-7.
Pack freshman Nick Reenan pulled the Pack within three at 13-10, as he downed Micah Barnes 3-2. After a scoreless first, Reenan started the scoring with an escape and then got a takedown in the second period to go up 3-0. Barnes got the escape and another to start the third, but Reenan closed out the win, his seventh straight
Nebraska clinched the dual victory with three straight decisions, by three ranked wrestlers, to close out the night.
For NC State, a pair of freshmen came out of their redshirt and made their dual debuts - Tommy Cox at 125 pounds and Thomas Bullard at 157 pounds.
