Wolfpack Starts Strong at Alister MacKenzie Invitational

FAIRFAX, Calif. – The NC State men's golf team got off to a strong start at the 2016 Alister MacKenzie Invitational on Monday. Through two rounds of play at The Meadow Club, the Wolfpack sits fifth in the field of 15 teams with a score of 549 (-19).

NC State recorded the second best round of the day (270, -14) to open the tournament before following it up with a strong 279 (-5) in the second round. The Wolfpack is just five strokes out of a first place tie with St. Mary's and Pepperdine.

Three Wolfpack golfers currently rank within the top 18 of the tournament field: freshman Benjamin Shipp (T11), sophomore Stephen Franken (T11), and senior Jacob McBride (T18).

NC State golfers begin the third and final round of the tournament Tuesday morning between 11 and 11:40 a.m. ET (8 to 8:40 a.m. local time). The Wolfpack will be paired with players from Minnesota, BYU, and Washington.
