RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 3 ranked NC State wrestling team will be in home ACC action this weekend, when the Wolfpack (16-0, 1-0 ACC) hosts conference rival Virginia (5-2, 0-0) this Sunday at 1 p.m. at the NC State Fairgrounds Dorton Arena. Admission is FREE, and the dual will be streamed on GoPack.com as well.
Parking is on the North side of Dorton Arena, and the entrance for Dorton Arena will be through the North Entrance (near the fountain).
Prior to the Pack's first home ACC dual, NC State will be hosting a free clinic, which is open to any and all entrants. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. for the clinic, which will be run by Wolfpack Olympic Regional Training Center (RTC) members Timmy McCall and Quinton Godley.
Â
The Wolfpack remains No. 3 in this week's USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll for the fourth straight poll dating back to Dec. 15, while Virginia checks in at No. 17 for the third straight time. The Pack is also No. 3 according to both FloWrestling and InterMat and No. 4 by WIN Magazine.
Much like the team ranking has been the same for the past month, six of the Pack's 10 starters continue to remain ranked in the top-20 in every major poll.

Caldwell to be Honored
As part of the Pack's alumni weekend, NC State will be honoring two-time All-American and 2009 National Champion Darrion Caldwell at intermission.

Going in as the No. 3 seed, Caldwell shocked the college-wrestling world by taking out defending national champion Brent Metcalf of Iowa in the finals, 11-6.
A four-time ACC Champion, Caldwell was named the ACC Wrestler of the Year in both 2007 and 2009, and was the conference's Rookie of the Year in 2007 as well.

Boykin has faced four ranked opponents in his last five matches, and is 2-4 vs. ranked foes this year - his only losses to top-10 foes. Nye was runner-up at the ACC Championship each of the last two seasons, and is 5-1 in duals this year so far. In their lone matchup last season, Nye squeaked out a 4-3 OT win in the dual at UVA.
Series vs. UVA
NC State and Virginia will be facing each other in a dual for the 64rd time since the start of ACC competition (1955). NC State holds a slight 31-30-1 since conference action began thanks to the Pack's 22-20 win at UVA last year.
Last Year vs. UVA
Down 20-13 with only two bouts left, #20 NC State came back to down #13th Virginia 22-20 in late February last year in a big ACC road win at Charlottesville, Va.
Closing out the dual with matches at 285 and 125 pounds, Nick Gwiazdowski scored a pin to close the gap to 20-19 with a winner-take-all bout at 125 to close. Redshirt-senior Joe DeAngelo scored an escape point in the third period for the last score and won 7-6 to give NC State the road win.
Here is how NC State probables fared last year:
141: Kevin Jack (NCSU) major dec. Joe Spisak, 19-6
149: Beau Donahue (NCSU) dec. TJ Miller, 4-3
157: #27 Andrew Atkinson (UVa) dec. Chad Pyke, 7-3

197: #17 Zach Nye (UVa) tiebreaker Michael Boykin, 4-3
285: #1 Nick Gwiazdowski (NCSU) fall #33 Patrick Gillen, 1:41
Competing Against the Best
NC State is a perfect 16-0 in 2015-16, the most consecutive wins to start a season in school history. The 16 wins also lead the NCAA and NC State is just one of four undefeated teams remaining. The 16 wins also matches last year's total - and are the third-most in NC State history in a season (18 in 1985, 19 in 1988).
The Pack will be tested the rest of the way, as the final seven duals are all against teams ranked in the top-25 in this week's USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll, starting with #17 Virginia. NC State is 3-0 against ranked teams this season having defeated #16 Minnesota (31-3), #4 Oklahoma State (19-15), and #24 Old Dominion (26-15).
Gwiazdowski Dominating as Usual
Two-time defending NCAA Champion Nick Gwiazdowski has been dominate since he joined the Wolfpack for the 2013-14 season. He currently holds an NCAA-best 74 match-winning streak, with his last loss coming in Jan. 2014. He is 19-0 this, following up a perfect 35-0 campaign in 2014-15 and 42-2 in his first season in 2013-14. In his three-year NC State career, Gwiazdowski is 96-2, including a perfect 47-0 in duals.
Another impressive streak Gwiazdowski has going, he has scored a pin in his last seven matches in ACC duals. He pinned Duke in the Pack's first ACC dual of this season, pinned all five conference foes last year, and his last ACC dual win in 2013-14 resulted in a pin.
Pair of Streaks
Two NC State wrestlers remain undefeated thus far in 2015-16, as Tommy Gantt is 14-0 and Nick Gwiazdowski is 19-0 in their redshirt senior seasons. NC State is one of six schools nationally with at least two wrestlers still undefeated, and only Virginia Tech (Ty Waltz of Va. Tech at 285) is the only school in the ACC with another undefeated wrestler.
